Before anything else

Nobody from Majestic will ever ask for your seed phrase or private key. Not by email, not by WhatsApp, not by phone, not on any website. Anyone who asks is trying to steal from you. There are no exceptions to this, including for "verification", "migration", or "support".

The fix: turn on airplane mode

This sounds wrong, and it works. Turn airplane mode on — so both Wi-Fi and mobile data are off — and then open Majestic Wallet. It should open normally and stay open.

The reason is explained further down, but briefly: the app gets stuck waiting for services that no longer answer. With no connection at all, it stops waiting and simply opens.

Back up your seed phrase while you are in

Once the wallet opens, this is the most important thing you can do. Your seed phrase is the only thing that can restore your wallet anywhere else.

  1. Keep airplane mode on. Showing your seed phrase with no connection is safer.
  2. Open the wallet's Settings, and look for Backup, Back Up Wallet, or Show Seed Phrase.
  3. Write the words down on paper, in order, and check them twice.
  4. Store the paper somewhere safe and private. A second copy in a different place is wise.
  5. Close the wallet before turning your connection back on.

Never do these with your seed phrase

Do not screenshot it. Do not save it in Notes, Photos, email, or a messaging app. Do not type it into any website. Do not read it aloud on a call. Anyone who has those words has your coins, permanently and irreversibly.

Checking your balance without the wallet

You do not need the app to confirm your coins exist. Our balance lookup shows what any address held on Majestic Chain, and it never asks you to connect a wallet or enter anything private.

Check your balance

Paste your wallet address — the one starting 0x — and it will show your MJT and any tokens recorded against it.

Once you have your seed phrase

With those words written down, you no longer depend on Majestic Wallet at all. You can restore the same wallet, with the same addresses, in any standard Ethereum wallet — MetaMask and Trust Wallet are the common choices. Look for "Import wallet" or "Restore using recovery phrase".

The migration to the new network will be done through a web page, from whichever wallet you control. Details will be published on this site before it opens.

Your keys have never left your phone. The app failing to open does not put your coins at risk.

Why this is happening

Majestic Chain is currently halted while we move to new infrastructure. When the old network services went offline, the wallet app was left waiting for answers that never came.

The app asks many services for information the moment it opens, and it waits for each one rather than giving up. Wallets holding more coins ask more questions, so they get stuck more easily — which is why a brand-new empty wallet may open perfectly while an established one does not. After a few seconds, the phone decides the app has stopped responding and closes it.

We have restored Majestic's own services, so those now answer immediately. Some of the others the app relies on are public networks that shut down years ago and are beyond our control. Turning off the connection avoids all of them at once.

If airplane mode does not work

Restart your phone, then try again with airplane mode on before opening the app. If the wallet still will not open, do not delete and reinstall it — deleting the app deletes the keys stored on your phone, and without your seed phrase written down those coins cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

Write to info@majesticchain.io instead. We will never ask you for your seed phrase in that conversation, and any message that does is not from us.

This page describes a technical issue with a third-party wallet application and the steps available to holders. Balances recorded on Majestic Chain are unaffected. Nothing on this page constitutes an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy any security or financial instrument, and no return is offered, promised or implied.
